Emergency Food Pantry:
The church operates a small emergency food pantry stocked with non-perishable food items. The pantry is available to anyone who has need. Contact the church office to schedule a pick-up.
Coordinated by: Carson Riley and others.
Fredericksburg Area Food Bank:
Round Oak participates with the FAFB to provide food resources, both perishable and non-perishable, to those in need. Families and individuals desiring this service may call the church office to set an appointment for a visit to the Food Bank. We do limit this service to one visit per month per family/individual.
Coordinated by: Benevolent team (Kay Sale, Nancy Kail) and church staff.
Homeless Shelter:
Our ministry at the Thurman Brisben Center for the Homeless began in August 2006. We are among approximately 45 churches and organizations that provide a supper meal nightly to the residents. The homeless shelter is located in the Fredericksburg Industrial Park off of Blue Gray Parkway. The shelter averages about 75 men, women and children monthly.
ROBC currently has 30 volunteers who divide up in teams of 5-6 people and serve a meal once monthly. The menu, shopping for groceries and cooking the food at the shelter is carried out by each team. Funds for purchasing food is provided through the church budget. The 2008 schedule for feeding is: September 19; October 6; November 3; and December 18. If you would like to be included on this feeding ministry team, please contact Nancy Kail. We always welcome volunteers.
Food For Life:
FFL is a service of the Food Bank providing a monthly food box to low income senior adults or disabled persons. Registration forms are available at the church, and must be approved by the Food Bank in order to participate. Currently we deliver to 16 families/individuals in the church community. The FFL boxes are packed at the Food Bank on the first Saturday of every month, starting at 9:00 AM, and volunteers are always needed to help with this. The church van leaves the church around 8:40 AM on the packing Saturday, if you are interested in helping.

Share Food Network:
Round Oak serves as a host site for SHARE (Self Help and Resource Exchange) which is a food distribution center based in Hyattsville, Maryland. Food orders are taken during the first week of every month, and generally costs $18.50 for a box of frozen meat, produce and other items that would cost around $45 in the grocery store. The purpose of this ministry is to help save money on groceries monthly as well as involve participants in service in the community. At least two hours of volunteer service is required to participate each month. Each month's menu is made available in advance, and is inserted in Sunday bulletins, or available in the church office. The food is delivered on the third or fourth Saturday of the month, brought to the church, and individually distributed. If you would like to assist with the food distribution, please contact the church office.
